Basic station components
VelociRFTA stations will be designed to include these basic components (see conceptual plan at right):
-
A platform to make boarding and alighting faster and easier
-
A shelter to provide protection from sun, wind, rain, and snow
-
An electronic sign to show real-time "next bus" information
-
Information panels that provide route, schedule and connections information
-
Station and VelociRFTA identification signage
-
Trash and recycling receptacles
-
Bicycle racks
-
Parking at most locations
-
Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) technology
All stations will carry the VelociRFTA brand so they are easily identifiable. Stations at Buttermilk, AABC, Brush Creek, Basalt, and Carbondale will be integrated into the existing RFTA stop locations.
The covered passenger waiting area will be designed to be comfortable for waiting passengers and to make it convenient for them to purchase tickets quickly. The station platforms will be designed to include level boarding where possible if clear zone standards can be achieved, modified or waived. The station platform is flexible in its design to be resized and modified to fit the existing site conditions. Each station will include the following passenger amenities:
-
Covered and enclosed waiting area
-
Bench seating, both interior and exterior
-
Leaning Rails
-
Information panels identifying the route, connections, transfers, timetables and other service information
-
Real-time bus arrival sign to indicate when the next BRT vehicle will arrive. A GPS system will be deployed to provide real-time next bus information at passenger stops and on a website
-
Litter receptacles, including recycling bins
-
Bicycle racks, both covered and uncovered
-
Lighting (including downlighting inside shelter area)
