The Service Plan is the "backbone" of BRT and is the foundation for station, park & ride, and bus stop design and location, as well as transit priority (roadway) improvements. RFTA's goal is to provide service that delivers passengers to their destination within a similar timeframe to that of a private vehicle. For example, the goal for VelociRFTA service from the Roaring Fork Marketplace in south Glenwood Springs to Rubey Park in Aspen is 60 minutes.
VelociRFTA Service VelociRFTA service is envisioned to operate every 10 minutes during morning and evening peak hours and every 15 minutes during off-peak hours. In addition to VelociRFTA, existing local services will remain.
Peak Express service (also called zonal direct service) will also continue during morning and afternoon commuter hours to supplement VelociRFTA and local services. This additional layer of Express service is not shown on the service plan map.
