 VelociRFTA Service

The transit service plans for VelociRFTA BRT and other services in the Valley are being developed to specify service levels, hours of operation and how different services relate to each other. The service plan has been defined conceptually at this time. BRT service would operate seven days per week, in addition to local service and express service. Table 1 shows typical service levels during the winter season.  Service levels will be reduced during other seasons when ridership levels are lower.

Transit travel times between Glenwood Springs and Aspen are expected to be 55 to 60 minutes for BRT depending on the time of day; local service along the same route will require about one hour and 40 minutes, and Express trips in the Valley will require 60 to 65 minutes. The BRT Service will form the core of the Valley service. It will have the highest frequency, maximum visibility, and be the most attractive service. RFTA expects the enhanced service and increased visibility will result in a significant increase in ridership in the near term.
